Reviewer's verdict

It's a guided tour for running a clustering notebook in Azure ML, not a course on clustering itself. Useful if you're migrating to the v2 SDK, but skip if you want to learn the 'how' or 'why'.

Who it's for

Data scientists getting started with Azure ML SDK v2.

Who should skip it

Anyone needing to understand clustering algorithms from first principles.

Pros

  • Quick introduction to the Azure ML SDK v2 for clustering.
  • Clear, step-by-step instructions for the provided notebook.
  • Sandbox environment requires no local setup.

Cons

  • More of a product tour than a deep learning experience.
  • Code is provided; the user's job is to run it, not write it.
  • Algorithm explanations are very high-level.

The first code cell just has you import libraries like pandas and `azure.ai.ml`. The second one connects to your workspace. Then you paste in the next block, and the next. It’s all copy-paste. There's no thinking, no debugging, no reason to understand what `KMeans` is actually doing. It’s just a demo of the Azure ML SDK v2 syntax.

I get it, it's a 45-minute module. But if the goal is to show me how to 'train and evaluate' a model, I expect to do more than hit Shift-Enter. The theory slides are just definitions. If you already know clustering and just need the new SDK commands for your job, fine. It’s a syntax cheat sheet. But don't expect to walk away knowing how to apply this to a new dataset. I could have just read the API docs.
