Best for

New university instructors or corporate trainers who are about to teach the AI-102 curriculum for the first time and want a checklist.

Watch for

Extremely thin on content; it's a guide to a guide, not a substantive technical resource.

Who it's for

New university instructors or corporate trainers who are about to teach the AI-102 curriculum for the first time and want a checklist.

Who should skip it

Experienced data scientists or AI practitioners looking for deep technical insights. Anyone not in a teaching role.

Pros

  • Provides a structured walkthrough of the AI-102 learning paths.
  • Gives concrete timing suggestions (e.g., '10 minutes for this demo').
  • Links out to the official GitHub labs and resources, centralizing the materials.

Cons

  • Extremely thin on content; it's a guide to a guide, not a substantive technical resource.
  • The 'tips' are mostly generic pedagogical advice (e.g., 'tell a story').
  • No hands-on component within the module itself.
  • Feels like an internal PowerPoint deck for trainers that was published externally.

Unit 3, 'Learn Learning Path Best Practices', is where the circular logic set in. The module tells you to tell your students a story. Then Unit 4 tells you to use the labs. Unit 5 says to explain the concepts. It’s just a set of instructions on how to instruct, written with the depth of a PowerPoint slide. I went through this hoping for some non-obvious insights into the trickier parts of the AI-102 curriculum, maybe a real discussion on common student misconceptions around, say, QnA Maker vs. Azure Search, or model deployment race conditions. There was none of that.

This isn't a course. It's a teacher's edition preface, stretched into a one-hour module. The whole thing is basically a list of links to the *actual* learning paths and labs, interspersed with advice like 'manage your time' and 'introduce technical topics carefully.' For someone who has never taught a technical subject before, I suppose this might serve as a very basic pre-flight checklist. It gives timing estimates for each section, which could be useful for a first-time instructor building their lesson plan.

But for anyone already familiar with the subject matter, you will just find yourself clicking 'Continue' repeatedly, waiting for a technical insight that never arrives. The content is so generic it could apply to teaching almost any Azure certification. Its only value is as a table of contents. I would have been better off just going straight to the AI-102 GitHub repository and reading the lab instructions.
