Reviewer's verdict

It's a guided tour of a sales brochure. Useful for learning the official names of products and partnerships, but don't expect to understand how anything actually works.

Who it's for

Account managers or sales engineers who need to recite Microsoft-SAP partnership talking points.

Who should skip it

Anyone technical (administrators, architects) or product managers needing to understand actual integration points.

Pros

  • Provides a high-level map of the Microsoft-SAP partnership.
  • Introduces the 'RISE with SAP' program terminology.
  • Useful for understanding the marketing narrative around Azure and SAP.

Cons

  • Extremely light on technical detail; more of a sales deck than a course.
  • No hands-on labs or practical exercises to ground the concepts.
  • Heavy on marketing jargon and partnership announcements.
  • Doesn't explain the 'why' behind the architecture, just the 'what'.

That diagram in the 'Innovate using RISE' module—the one with twenty little Azure service icons pointing at a big SAP logo. That was the whole course in one slide. The rest was just a five-hour narration of the press release. I went in hoping to figure out what our engineers mean when they talk about the SAP connector for Logic Apps, or what an actual data flow looks like when we pull ERP data into Power BI.

Instead, I got a history lesson on the Microsoft and SAP 'partnership'. The content feels like it was written by the marketing teams from both companies, carefully negotiated to give each logo equal prominence. There's a lot of 'synergy' and 'innovation' and 'unified platforms'. What's missing is a single, concrete example of a problem and how this stack solves it. What data, exactly, is flowing through that 'unified analytics' pipe? What's the real-world difference between running SAP on Azure versus another cloud, in terms of my team's day-to-day work? The quizzes just check if you remember the product names. Yes, I can now remember that the program is called 'RISE with SAP'. No, I still have no idea what that means for my product roadmap or why our finance team should care.
