Reviewer's verdict

This isn't a course, it's a product brochure. Use it as a quick glossary for Purview and Copilot features before a cert exam, but don't expect to learn how to *do* anything.

Decision summary

Best for

Functional consultants needing a quick glossary of Purview terms, anyone cramming for a related cert.

Watch for

Zero hands-on interaction; it's a glorified product page.

Who it's for

Functional consultants needing a quick glossary of Purview terms, anyone cramming for a related cert.

Who should skip it

Students looking for hands-on labs, anyone needing to actually configure data policies.

Pros

  • Quick overview of the Purview feature set.
  • Covers the latest Copilot-related governance topics.
  • The material itself has no cost.

Cons

  • Zero hands-on interaction; it's a glorified product page.
  • Feels like a sales pitch for Microsoft 365 Enterprise features.
  • The 'Knowledge Check' is trivial and doesn't test understanding.

It’s really just an ad for Microsoft Purview. The first few units are walls of text explaining what the product does, loaded with phrases like 'intelligent data security' and 'AI-powered compliance'. I kept expecting a link to a sandbox environment or at least a simulated lab where I could click through the admin center myself. Never happened.

The only part that felt new was the section on Copilot data protection. It explains how governance policies apply when people start using AI, which is a real concern. But again, it's all descriptive. It tells you that policies *can* be set, not *how* to set them. The knowledge check at the end was a joke—three multiple-choice questions that felt like they were copied from the marketing summary.

I went through it because it was part of a larger learning path, thinking it would fill in some gaps. Instead, it just made me feel like I was sitting through a vendor presentation. I get that this is probably meant for administrators who already have a tenant to play with, but for a student, it’s completely abstract. I got a better feel for the actual interface by watching a 10-minute YouTube video from a third-party consultant. This whole hour of reading could have been a five-minute diagram.
