A useful, hands-on module for the intended IT admin audience, but it's too deep in the technical weeds for product leaders who just want to understand the capabilities.

Who it's for
Compliance managers or IT admins needing an overview of Purview's AI data governance features.
Who should skip it
Product managers or leaders needing a high-level 'what and why' without technical setup details.
Pros
Provides a structured tour of Purview's DLP and lifecycle management tools.
Hands-on exercises use a realistic sandbox environment.
Covers new features like Copilot policies and DSPM for AI.
Cons
Heavy on administrative jargon and click-by-click instructions.
Doesn't explain the business impact or 'why' behind the settings.
Too granular for a strategic overview; feels like an admin's setup guide.
The Copilot policy exercise dropped me straight into a settings screen to see how Purview stops proprietary code from being fed into a prompt. I get the concept, but the module was just a long series of 'click here, select this' instructions. It showed me *how* to set up a policy but never explained *why* you'd choose one setting over another from a business perspective.
I was hoping for the strategic trade-offs—like how tight a policy can be before it cripples productivity. Instead, it felt like I was just following a setup wizard. It's an administrator's guide, plain and simple. If you're the person who actually has to configure these tools, it's probably useful. But if you're a PM trying to grasp the guardrails for your AI features, this isn't the right level of abstraction.
