Pros
Quick overview of monitoring concepts in the Foundry context.
Defines key metrics like latency and token usage.
Free and short, so low commitment.
Cons
No actual exercise, just reading a script.
Feels more like a product brief than a technical tutorial.
Doesn't go beyond surface-level definitions.
The “Prepare the scripts” unit is just a link to a Python file. You’re told to read a script that would, theoretically, log metrics to Microsoft Foundry. But you don't run it. There's no environment, no sample data, not even a fake connection string. You just read the code and then answer a multiple-choice quiz on what you just read.
This is a long-form ad for Foundry. It ticks the boxes: latency, token usage, cost. It talks about why monitoring matters. But it's all tell, no show. I spent an hour clicking through slides to get to a script I could have read in three minutes. If you're completely new to app monitoring and already locked into the Azure ecosystem, maybe this gives you the right keywords for a meeting. But you don't learn to monitor anything here.
