It’s a functional product tour for the Copilot/Azure Boards integration, but don't expect to build any real muscle memory. Good for a quick look, not for deep learning.

Who it's for
DevOps engineers or tech leads in Azure shops evaluating Copilot for Boards.
Who should skip it
Anyone outside the Azure DevOps + GitHub ecosystem.
Pros
Walks through the entire integration flow from permissions to PRs.
The sandbox environment saves setup time.
Shows concrete Copilot chat prompts for refining work items.
Cons
Feels like an extended product demo, not a skills course.
The sandbox is heavily scripted; you're mostly copying and pasting.
Doesn't cover troubleshooting or what happens when the integration fails.
Connecting my GitHub repo to the Azure Boards project was just a few clicks. After that, it felt less like a lab and more like watching a pre-recorded demo where I just got to type along. You get temporary contributor permissions and then just paste commands to feed Copilot prompts for breaking down a user story.
Sure, it shows the end-to-end flow. You see how Copilot can summarize work items and even suggest PR descriptions. I get the concept. But the whole exercise is on rails. There's no room to deviate, no chance to see what breaks, no real problem-solving. It's the happy path, which is never the path you're on in a real project.
It’s a quick way to see the feature in action, I'll give it that. But it's just a sales pitch disguised as training. You click through, see the magic, and you're done. Doesn't teach you how to handle the inevitable mess when the connection flakes out or Copilot misunderstands a complex ticket.
