A necessary but jargon-filled primer for PMs in a Microsoft-heavy organization. It's a quick way to learn the vocabulary for your next meeting with the engineering team, but don't expect to understand RAG from this alone.

Who it's for
Product managers or solution architects at companies already using or evaluating Microsoft Foundry who need to understand what 'Foundry IQ' is.
Who should skip it
Anyone looking for a general introduction to RAG or hands-on coding practice. This is a product-specific overview.
Pros
Quick, focused overview of a specific Microsoft product.
Explains the business problem that 'agentic retrieval' is meant to solve.
Clear diagrams showing how IQ fits into the Foundry stack.
Cons
Heavy on Microsoft-specific terminology (Foundry, MCP, etc.).
The 'exercise' is more of a guided tour; not a real build.
Almost impossible to follow without context on the broader Microsoft Foundry platform.
The 'Configure Retrieval' unit was the part I needed. It finally gave me the language to ask our engineers if our new AI feature is just doing a simple vector search or something more. Before this, terms like 'agentic retrieval' were just buzzwords in a planning doc.
The module is basically an ad for Foundry IQ, which is fine, I guess. It explains how this thing is supposed to stop our AI agents from making stuff up by connecting them to company data. The diagrams were good, but the rest felt like reading an internal marketing deck. I clicked through the 'exercise' without really doing anything. I didn't come here to become an AI engineer, just to figure out what our AI engineers are talking about. For that, it did the job. Barely.
