Pros
Extremely short, takes less than 20 minutes
Points to the correct settings in Defender for Cloud
Up-to-date as of mid-2026
Cons
No real learning, just a walkthrough of UI buttons
The 'Knowledge Check' is trivial and doesn't test understanding
No hands-on component or sandbox environment
Basically a glorified documentation page
Page two shows a screenshot of the Defender plans. Okay, click 'Enable' on 'AI Services'. That’s the entire module. The rest of the pages just show you what the dashboard looks like after you've enabled it. There's no sandbox, no sample alerts to triage, and definitely no lab where you simulate a threat. You just look at static pictures of the user interface.
I get that it's free, but calling this a course is a stretch. It’s a quick-start guide at best. The knowledge check at the end only asks you to recall feature names you saw two pages before. It felt like one of those mandatory compliance trainings where you just click next-next-next to get the completion checkmark.
For a student like me trying to build actual skills, this was a waste of 20 minutes. I don't have an enterprise Azure subscription with active AI services to try this on. The whole point of a training module should be to provide that experience in a simulated environment. This module doesn't do that. It just assumes you're already a security engineer administering a production environment who just couldn't find the toggle. Honestly, reading the official Microsoft Docs page for Defender for AI Services would have been faster and contained the exact same information. I'd recommend the 'Protect AI workloads with Microsoft Defender for Cloud' module over this one; at least that one has a little more substance.
