Who it's for
New Fabric users wanting a quick tour of where the Copilot buttons are located.
Who should skip it
Engineers trying to build or debug a real data pipeline.
Pros
Quick, low-commitment introduction to the Copilot UI inside Fabric.
Shows where the AI features are surfaced in notebooks and Dataflow Gen2.
Cons
Exercises provide all prompts and code; there's no problem-solving involved.
Feels more like a product manual than a training exercise.
Doesn't cover any non-trivial use cases or troubleshooting.
The exercises here are just copy-paste. You're given the exact prompt to feed Copilot, you hit enter, and then you're given the exact code to validate the output. I never had to think, just transcribe. My cat could have passed this by walking on the keyboard.
I get that this is an intro, but it's for a tool meant to help with complex tasks. Instead of seeing it handle a messy CSV or a tricky join, I watched it generate boilerplate Python for a pre-made dataset. Honestly, I spent more time waiting for the Fabric workspace to provision than on the actual 'learning'. It shows you where the button is, but gives zero feel for what it's like to use this on a real problem where you don't already know the answer. I left with no more confidence in it than when I started.
