This is a PM's skim-read of the Azure AI product catalog, not a technical course. It's useful for building a mental map of what's possible and what to ask your engineering team about, but you won't learn how to 'do' AI.

Best for
PMs and business analysts needing a quick, high-level map of Azure's AI services
Watch for
Extremely shallow; more of a product catalog than a course.

Who it's for
PMs and business analysts needing a quick, high-level map of Azure's AI services
Who should skip it
Developers or engineers expecting to build or deploy anything tangible
Pros
Provides a structured overview of what AI services exist on Azure.
Introduces core concepts like generative AI, computer vision, and text analysis without technical depth.
The 'Foundry IQ' unit gives a concrete example of a business-facing AI tool.
Cons
Extremely shallow; more of a product catalog than a course.
No hands-on labs or coding; relies on reading and multiple-choice quizzes.
The title 'AI applications and agents' is misleading; it's mostly about discrete services.
The final unit on 'Foundry IQ' was the only part that felt connected to my actual job. It showed a tool that lets you ask questions about business data in plain English. Before that, the path was just a fast-forward tour through a product catalog: here's our speech service, here's our vision service, here's our text analysis service. Click, read, next. The 'knowledge checks' were just repeating a definition you read two paragraphs ago.
My goal was to understand the building blocks my dev team keeps mentioning. What's the difference between a 'service' and an 'agent'? When would we use one over the other? This path doesn't really answer that. It just lists the services. I finished the five hours with a better vocabulary for a meeting, but no real model of how these pieces fit together to make an 'application' or an 'agent.' I can now say, 'We could probably use Azure's text analysis API for that,' but I couldn't tell you what that implies for cost, setup time, or limitations.
So it's not useless, but the title is ambitious. This isn't about building 'AI applications and agents.' It's a guided tour of the Azure AI Lego bricks. You see the pictures on the box, but you never get to open the bag and snap anything together. Good for a PM who needs to sound informed in a planning meeting, but that’s about it.
