A dense but quick read that serves as a high-level architectural brief for Entra and AI. It's not a 'how-to' guide but rather a 'what we do' document. Useful for mapping concepts, but expect no practical skills.

Who it's for
Security engineers or identity admins already working within the Microsoft ecosystem who need a high-level overview of Entra ID's role in AI.
Who should skip it
Beginners in cloud or identity management; anyone looking for hands-on practice or deep technical explanations.
Pros
Provides a structured, high-level map of Microsoft's identity strategy for AI workloads.
Introduces key terminology like workload identities and management vs. data plane.
The final knowledge check forces you to reread and connect the concepts.
Cons
Zero hands-on exercises; it's a pure reading assignment with diagrams.
Feels more like a sales document for Entra ID than a technical training module.
Extremely dense with terminology, making it tough for anyone not already deep in Azure.
It feels like they took an internal architecture whitepaper, stripped out the sensitive bits, and called it a training module. I got through it in about 40 minutes, but most of that time was spent rereading paragraphs trying to untangle the terminology. Management plane, data plane, human identities, workload identities, service principals—it all blurs together when there's no console to click in or a single line of code to write.
The diagrams showing authentication flows are fine, but they’re high-level. You see the boxes and arrows, but you don't get the 'why' for a specific scenario. For example, it talks about scoping roles but doesn't walk through actually creating a custom role or assigning it in the Azure portal for a specific AI service. It just tells you that you should.
The final knowledge check was surprisingly tricky and forced me to go back and really distinguish between the concepts. I failed it the first time because I mixed up which plane handles what. It's a cheap trick to create 'engagement' when the content is so passive. I finished it with a better vocabulary for Microsoft's identity stack but zero confidence I could actually implement any of it. It’s all just theory.
