A solid, no-fluff technical tour for Azure developers. It shows you exactly which buttons to press to use Redis as a cache or vector DB for your AI app, but doesn't teach you *why* one strategy is better than another.

Best for
Developers already in the Azure ecosystem needing a quick primer on Redis for AI use cases like caching and vector search.
Watch for
Assumes significant Azure context; not a standalone Redis tutorial.

Who it's for
Developers already in the Azure ecosystem needing a quick primer on Redis for AI use cases like caching and vector search.
Who should skip it
Beginners, anyone looking for deep Redis theory, or those avoiding vendor lock-in.
Pros
Covers modern Redis use cases (vector search, pub/sub) for AI.
Hands-on labs are practical and use current tooling.
Concise and directly applicable to a common architectural pattern.
Cons
Assumes significant Azure context; not a standalone Redis tutorial.
The 'AI' angle is mostly about bolting Redis onto an existing AI workflow.
Could be a single, long blog post instead of a multi-module 'path'.
My first thought was 'another AI path,' but this one at least gets straight to business. It’s really about three specific jobs for Redis in an AI stack: as a semantic cache for prompts and responses, as a simple message broker, and as a vector store. The vector search part is what I was here for. The labs are what you'd expect from MS Learn. You get a temporary sandbox, fire up the Cloud Shell, and paste commands to provision a Redis instance and run some Python scripts. It works. The Python code for vectorizing text with Azure OpenAI and storing it in Redis is a decent starting point. I pulled the script out to mess with it locally. That's the real value here—a working code snippet that connects the pieces. Don't come here expecting a deep dive into Redis itself. It doesn't cover data structures, persistence strategies, or performance tuning. It's purely an integration guide for Azure. It shows you how to plug Service A (Azure OpenAI) into Service B (Azure Cache for Redis) with some glue code. For a quick project, that's often enough. But it reinforces the Azure-centric view of the world. It won't help you much if you're trying to build this on your own hardware or with a different cloud provider. It’s a pragmatic, if narrow, 3-hour manual.
