This is a product tour, not a course. It shows what M365 Copilot could theoretically do in a legal setting, but you won't write a single prompt or use the tool yourself. Skip this if you want to learn by doing.

Who it's for
Internal Microsoft teams or partners needing a quick overview of potential M365 Copilot legal features.
Who should skip it
Anyone looking for hands-on practice, legal professionals, or students trying to learn prompt engineering.
Pros
Provides a quick, high-level map of what Microsoft envisions for Copilot in a legal context.
Covers multiple products (Word, Chat, custom agents) in a single narrative.
The use cases are structured and easy to follow conceptually.
Cons
No actual hands-on environment; it's a 'read-only' experience.
Prompts are given, and you just read about the expected output, which teaches very little.
The 'agents' are just pre-canned prompts, not a guide to building anything robust.
Feels more like a sales deck than a training module.
I did this module and the Finance one back-to-back, hoping to find some real-world prompt examples or maybe a sandbox. There is no sandbox. The entire thing is a guided tour where they show you screenshots of what would happen if you had M365 Copilot and a specific legal problem.
The 'exercises' are not exercises. You read a scenario, like summarizing a vendor contract in Word. The module gives you the exact prompt to use. Then it shows you a screenshot of the ideal output. You don't get to try variations or see what happens with a bad prompt. It's like a cookbook where you only read the recipe and look at the photos without ever touching an ingredient. I clicked through the 'Use Researcher Agent to Prepare a Brief' section just to see how they'd handle it. Again, it’s not about building an agent; it’s about using a pre-defined persona in a chat window. The 'Create Agent for Regulatory Assistant' part was particularly disappointing for this reason.
I get that providing a full Copilot environment for every learner is probably expensive. But without any hands-on component, this isn't training. It's a marketing presentation disguised as a learning module. I learned what Microsoft wants me to think Copilot can do for lawyers, but I didn't learn how to actually make it do anything. I didn't even get to fail, which is where the real learning happens.
