Reviewer's verdict

It’s a functional product tour, not a skills course. Use it to see what the buttons do, but don't expect to learn how to actually *do* HR analytics with it.

Who it's for

Business users inside the Microsoft ecosystem who need a quick tour of Copilot's HR features.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for practical skills, prompt engineering techniques, or HR theory.

Pros

  • Quick, self-contained product demo.
  • Shows specific HR tasks in Excel, Outlook, and Loop.
  • No cost to go through the material.

Cons

  • Not a real course; more like an interactive manual.
  • Exercises are just copy-pasting prompts.
  • No real data or challenging scenarios to solve.
  • Feels like a sales pitch for Microsoft 365.

These 'Empower your workforce' modules are basically interactive brochures. I did the HR one. The exercises are just a series of prompts you copy and paste into a simulated environment. 'Use Excel to identify manager metrics' sounds useful, but you’re not building the logic; you're just feeding a pre-written prompt to a fake Copilot to see it generate a pre-canned report. It shows you what the buttons do, I guess. At least it's free.

There's no thinking involved. No data to clean, no tricky prompts to debug, no real sense of what happens when the AI misunderstands a request. It's a perfect-world demo. I can see this being useful for a manager who was just told their company bought Copilot and they need to know what it is in 90 minutes. For anyone trying to build actual skills, this isn't it.
