Reviewer's verdict

It’s a guided product tour, not a skills course. Fine for a first look if you have an hour, but don't expect it to change how you work.

Who it's for

Developers who have never used Copilot and want a guided tour of basic features.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for advanced techniques or real-world problem-solving.

Pros

  • Quick, hands-on intro to Copilot's core features.
  • The sandbox environment is pre-configured and ready to go.
  • Covers both inline suggestions and chat.

Cons

  • Overly simplistic exercises that don't reflect real coding challenges.
  • Feels more like a product demo than a training module.
  • The 'best practices' section is just common sense.

A click to accept the greyed-out `calculateInterest` function, a click to run the test, and a green checkmark appears. The exercise is over. This whole thing feels like a checkbox-ticking exercise for a corporate training mandate, not something a working dev would seek out.

I get it, it’s a basic intro. It shows you the buttons for inline suggestions and chat. But it completely sidesteps the hard part of using these tools: writing good prompts, spotting subtle bugs in the generated code, and integrating it without making a mess. The best practices section was just a list of things you already know, like 'review the code before committing.' No kidding.

It’s a quick product tour. It shows what Copilot *can* do, but not *how* to use it effectively on a real project.
