It's a one-hour product tour for Microsoft's new agent stack. Don't expect to build anything useful with it, but at least you'll know what 'Foundry' is when they mention it at the next conference.

Who it's for
Developers getting a first look at Microsoft's agent terminology
Who should skip it
Anyone trying to build a production agent
Pros
Quick introduction to the terminology (Agent, Plugin).
Code snippets are self-contained.
Points to the newer Foundry services.
Cons
Exercise is just copy-pasting pre-written code.
Doesn't go beyond a 'hello world' agent.
Feels more like a product brief than a technical tutorial.
This was supposed to be about developing an AI agent, but the exercise was just verifying someone else’s code works in my environment. You copy, you paste, you run it. Done. If the goal is to 'develop' something, I should at least have to write one line of logic myself.
They mention Semantic Kernel agents, then quickly pivot to this 'Foundry Agent Service,' which seems to be the new thing they actually want you to use. Fine, I'm here to learn what's current. But the content is just a thin wrapper around a few code snippets. You create an agent, add a pre-built plugin, and that’s it. There’s no troubleshooting, no thinking, no real development. It's a guided tour of a new product API, not a lesson in building agents.
