Reviewer's verdict

It’s a product brochure disguised as a training path. It explains what buttons to click in a hypothetical perfect setup, but you won't build or secure anything yourself.

Who it's for

Security engineers already in the Azure ecosystem needing a quick product tour of Defender for AI.

Who should skip it

Beginners, anyone looking for hands-on labs, or those not using Azure.

Pros

  • Covers the very latest Azure AI security product stack.
  • Well-organized structure, easy to follow the slides.
  • Good for a high-level overview of what Defender for Cloud *can* do for AI.

Cons

  • Zero hands-on labs or interactive elements; it's a slide deck in web form.
  • Requires significant prerequisite knowledge of Azure, Entra ID, and general cloud security.
  • The 'Foundry' name is used but the content feels very generic to Azure AI Studio.

This felt like a long, unskippable ad for Defender for Cloud. You read about what the service *can* do, see screenshots of dashboards, and answer multiple-choice questions that just ask if you read the previous paragraph. I clicked through the four modules in about two hours; it was mostly just reading slides presented as web pages.

There's no sandbox, no trial environment, no lab. You're told how to 'Configure and manage guardrails in Microsoft Foundry' by looking at pictures of the interface. This isn't learning; it's a product tour. I get not giving everyone a full Azure tenant to play with, but they could have at least provided a simulated environment or a GitHub repo with Bicep or Terraform templates. Something tangible.

The content assumes you're a Senior Security Engineer at a large enterprise with a full Azure deployment already running. It throws around terms like Entra ID, service principals, and various Defender plans without much on-ramp. For a path labeled 'intermediate,' the gap between what it shows and what you can actually do without a pre-existing enterprise account is huge. Disappointing.
