Who it's for

PMs, business analysts, or anyone in a non-dev role needing to quickly grasp what Power Pages is and does.

Who should skip it

Developers looking for deep customization or API integration guides. This is a business-level overview.

Pros

  • Excellent, no-setup sandboxed lab environment lets you try the tool immediately.
  • Clear focus on the 'why'—building a business site without code.
  • Copilot integration is front and center, showing the AI-first workflow.

Cons

  • Feels more like an interactive brochure than a training module.
  • Skims over the complexities of data modeling in Dataverse.
  • The happy path is too smooth; you don't learn how to debug when things go wrong.

My team kept mentioning 'Power Pages' for a new partner portal project, and I needed to figure out if it was just another name for SharePoint or something genuinely new. This module was my one-hour shortcut. The best part is the sandboxed lab. You click a button, a temporary Microsoft tenant spins up, and you're dropped right into the Power Pages studio. No credit card, no admin rights, no bothering IT. I followed the steps and got a basic site running. The Copilot prompts are impressive for generating boilerplate text and simple forms. You type 'create a page for event registration' and it actually builds a decent starting point. That was the 'aha' moment for me. It’s a tool for turning business requirements into a functional prototype, fast. However, it's very much a guided tour. You don't learn what happens when Copilot misunderstands your request or when the data table you need isn't straightforward. The module presents everything as a simple click-and-type affair, which I know is never the full story. It glosses over the Dataverse part, which is where the real complexity of any business app lives. I still don't know how to model a many-to-many relationship, but at least now I know what the UI looks like and what kind of questions to ask the technical lead. It did its job: I'm no longer just nodding along in meetings.
