This is a configuration manual, not a strategy session. It shows an admin where the buttons are but won't help a product manager decide which ones to press or why.

Who it's for
New M365 admins needing a quick tour of Copilot settings panels
Who should skip it
Product managers or leaders seeking strategic 'why' or business impact
Pros
Walks through the exact admin center screens for configuration
Interactive exercises simulate toggling settings without a live tenant
Covers key knobs: web search, plugins, and third-party providers
Cons
Purely a 'how-to' guide, with zero explanation of the business trade-offs
Feels like reading a manual, not a strategic guide
Assumes you are the person who will actually click these buttons
The Settings Catalog exercise dropped me straight into a fake M365 Admin Center. Click here, toggle that. The simulation worked, I'll give it that. I followed the steps, enabled web search for Copilot, then disabled it. I saw where to plug in a third-party AI provider. It all felt very… literal.
Here’s my problem with this whole module. It answers “where is the button?” perfectly. What it never once addresses is “why would I click it?” As a PM, my job isn't to flip the switches; it's to understand the consequences of doing so. What's the real-world difference between letting Copilot use Bing versus keeping it internal? The module shows the toggle but offers zero discussion on the data privacy, response quality, or user experience trade-offs. It's a tour of a cockpit with no flight manual.
I was hoping for a mental model. For example: *when* should a company enable third-party connectors? What business problem does that solve? What new risks does it introduce? Instead, I got a screenshot and instructions to 'click enable.' I finished the hour feeling like I'd memorized the layout of a settings page, not like I'd gained any wisdom on how to govern an AI tool for my organization. The information is technically correct, but it’s just a list of features without a story.
