Reviewer's verdict

Who it's for

PMs, BAs, and business users needing a quick, concrete intro to building a Power App.

Who should skip it

Developers looking for deep customization or complex logic.

Pros

  • Truly beginner-friendly, no code required.
  • The hands-on exercise is a real, guided build, not just a video.
  • Focuses on a concrete outcome: a working app.
  • Good introduction to what Copilot can actually do in Power Apps.

Cons

  • Skims over data connectors; assumes you have clean data ready.
  • The 'responsive design' part is more of a quick mention than a deep dive.
  • Feels very much on-rails; doesn't prepare you for when things go wrong.

Typing 'Create an app to track conference room bookings' into the Copilot prompt and watching it scaffold a basic form with a gallery view was the hook. For once, the AI assistant actually worked. It just dropped me into a blank Power Apps canvas with that prompt, which normally is my cue to close the tab, but this time I was intrigued.

As a PM, my job isn't to build these things, but to understand what's possible when I ask my dev team (or a citizen developer) for something. This module gave me that mental model. It's not about learning formulas. It's about seeing how you connect a data source (they used a simple pre-made one), add controls like buttons and text boxes, and then use containers to make it not look terrible on a phone. The responsive design part felt a bit rushed, frankly, but it was enough to make me aware that it's a thing I need to ask about.

I’ve sat through a dozen presentations on the 'Power Platform revolution.' They're all abstract. This was 90 minutes of actually building. I now know what a 'canvas app' is versus a 'model-driven app' in a way I couldn't before. It's the difference between reading a recipe and actually making the dish. The final product isn't something I'd ship, but I have a concrete sense of the effort and the vocabulary to have a much smarter conversation about it.
