Reviewer's verdict

This is a product demo, not a skill-building course. It shows you that Copilot can write text and Designer can make images, but doesn't teach you how to do either well.

Decision summary

Best for

Absolute beginners looking for a quick, non-technical tour of Copilot and Designer.

Watch for

The 'animation roadmap' is just a lightly structured wall of text from Copilot.

Who it's for

Absolute beginners looking for a quick, non-technical tour of Copilot and Designer.

Who should skip it

Artists, designers, or anyone with prior prompting experience.

Pros

  • Extremely fast to complete.
  • Introduces both Copilot for text generation and Designer for image generation in one place.
  • Requires no setup or coding.

Cons

  • The 'animation roadmap' is just a lightly structured wall of text from Copilot.
  • The exercise is a copy-paste task with predictable results.
  • Offers very little creative control or technique.
  • The content feels thin, more like a product ad than a real lesson.

I was hoping for something to help with pre-production for a small game I’m noodling on, maybe some tricks for maintaining character consistency or developing a unique visual language. This isn't it.

The exercise at the end asks you to take a specific prompt about a cyberpunk detective story, feed it to Copilot to get a “roadmap,” then feed that into Designer for four concept images. I did exactly that. It took maybe ten minutes. The output was… fine? A generic text outline and four slightly different images of a guy in a trench coat under neon signs. There was no real learning loop.

The entire module feels like a guided tour of two product features. The 'animation roadmap' section is just prompting Copilot for a story summary, and the 'style guide' is basically just describing the images Designer already gave you. There’s no technique here, no craft. It never tells you *why* a prompt works, how to iterate, or how to get a specific, non-generic style. The examples show a best-case scenario without explaining the dozens of failed attempts it likely took to get there.

It’s quick, and you do get to click the buttons, but I walked away feeling like I just watched a long ad. The other 'vision' modules in this series feel very similar.
