It’s a guided product tour dressed up as a course. Use it to see what the tools can do in 30 minutes, but don't expect to learn how to design a vision.

Who it's for
Students needing a quick, guided tour of Copilot and Designer for storyboarding.
Who should skip it
Anyone looking for a hands-on project or in-depth creative techniques.
Pros
Quick overview of how Copilot can assist in scriptwriting.
Introduces Microsoft Designer for image generation.
Part of a larger learning path that might offer more context.
Cons
Mostly a product demo, not a real tutorial.
The 'storyboard' consists of just two generated images.
Lacks depth on prompting or iterative creative process.
The 'music video' context feels very thin.
One click on the exercise link just boots you out to the public Microsoft Designer tool. No sandbox, no project files, just a vague instruction to make two images for a 12-shot storyboard. That one detail says everything. This is less a tutorial on 'designing a vision' and more a quick product demo, with Copilot writing a few prompt ideas.
You’re walked through a hypothetical music video scenario for an artist named 'Zola.' Copilot writes a short script outline. Then you're meant to generate a 'dreamlike forest' and a 'city skyline.' And that's pretty much it. I feel like I could have gotten the same experience from a blog post or a five-minute YouTube ad.
I get that these short modules are supposed to be bite-sized introductions, but this one barely has any nutritional value. There's no real instruction on how to refine prompts, how to maintain character consistency between shots (a huge issue in AI storyboarding), or what to do when Designer gives you garbage. The whole thing feels like a thinly veiled push to get you to try the tools, which is fine, but it shouldn't be presented as a skill-building exercise. I came away knowing the tools exist, but not how to use them effectively for a real project.
