Reviewer's verdict

It’s a 20-minute read, not a course. It defines what a prompt is but won't make you better at writing them. Good for ticking a box, bad for building a skill.

Who it's for

Absolute beginners needing a quick, high-level overview of prompt components.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for hands-on practice, advanced techniques, or non-Microsoft tool examples.

Pros

  • Extremely short and easy to complete.
  • Defines basic terms like 'persona', 'tone', and 'format' in a prompt.
  • Requires no setup or technical knowledge.

Cons

  • No interactive exercises; you just read text and look at screenshots.
  • Content is superficial and could be summarized in a blog post.
  • Examples are exclusively for Microsoft Copilot.

The prompt instructions unit was just a list: persona, task, format, tone. Then it shows examples with those labels. There’s no interactive part to try writing your own or see how a model's output changes. This is a vocabulary lesson, not a workshop. It felt like reading the help file for a product I don't even use, since all the screenshots are of Microsoft Copilot. It seems like they spent more time on the 'Summary' and 'Knowledge Check' sections than on the actual content. I learned a few terms, sure. But I didn't actually learn the *skill* of creating effective prompts. Twenty minutes later, I'm no better at this than when I started.
