Reviewer's verdict

A high-level concept tour, not a hands-on workshop. Read it for buzzwords if you have an hour, but don't expect to learn any actual skills.

Who it's for

K-12 educators or anyone needing a quick, high-level overview of Sora's potential in animation.

Who should skip it

Animators, developers, or anyone looking for hands-on practice or technical depth.

Pros

  • Quick overview of Sora's potential animation use cases.
  • Showcases interesting 2D-to-3D transformation concepts.
  • Requires no prior animation or technical knowledge.

Cons

  • No hands-on access to Sora; it's just screenshots and text.
  • Feels like a marketing presentation, not a technical tutorial.
  • The 'exercise' is just answering multiple-choice questions about what you read.

The final 'exercise' wasn't one. It was a multiple-choice quiz about the case studies I just read. There's no lab, no sandbox, not even a prompt to try in Copilot. You just read about what Sora could theoretically do, look at screenshots, and then answer questions to prove you were awake. The whole thing feels like a blog post reformatted into a learning path.

I get that Sora access is limited. But naming a module 'Animate the impossible' and then not letting the user animate anything feels like bait-and-switch. It's a quick read, sure, and some of the 2D-to-3D examples are cool to think about. If you were hoping for a tutorial or at least some practical prompting techniques you could use elsewhere, this isn't it. This is a PowerPoint deck you click through.
