Reviewer's verdict

Skip this unless you're a teacher mandated to learn about Microsoft 365 tools. It's a product pamphlet, not a course on using AI for training.

Best for

Educators or business users completely new to Microsoft 365's AI features.

Watch for

Extremely shallow; more of a product tour than a training module.

Who it's for

Educators or business users completely new to Microsoft 365's AI features.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for technical skills or to actually build with AI tools.

Pros

  • Quick, low-effort introduction to a few Microsoft tools.
  • Speaker Coach feature in PowerPoint is genuinely useful.
  • Doesn't require any prior knowledge.

Cons

  • Extremely shallow; more of a product tour than a training module.
  • The 'AI' aspect is mostly just using existing software features.
  • 'Knowledge check' quizzes are trivial and test memory of the text, not understanding.
  • Sway feels dated and not particularly relevant to AI workflows.

The part on Microsoft Sway felt like a time capsule. I had to check the module’s last updated date. It’s an interactive article builder, sure, but how does it relate to the current AI path? This feels like they just bolted on whatever product they could find that wasn't Word or Excel.

The only piece that felt remotely like 'AI-powered training' was the Speaker Coach in PowerPoint. That part was actually neat. It gives you live feedback on pacing, filler words, and pitch. I ran it on a presentation for a class project, and it caught me saying 'like' and 'you know' way too often. It’s a useful feature, and I'll probably use it again. But it’s just one feature. It can't carry an entire module supposedly about AI tools.

Everything else was just reading text and then answering a multiple-choice question about that text. The 'Knowledge Check' was more a 'Did you read the last paragraph?' check. There’s no building, no API calls, not even a prompt engineering exercise. The module is titled 'Use AI-powered tools,' but it's really 'Be told that some Microsoft tools use AI.' It's a quick skim, but don't expect to learn any skills. You're just clicking through a product catalog.
