Reviewer's verdict

This is a policy document, not a technical guide. If you're a school administrator, it's probably what you were looking for. If you're a developer, it isn't.

Who it's for

K-12 educators looking for a structured, Microsoft-centric introduction to AI teaching frameworks.

Who should skip it

Developers or anyone looking for technical skills, code, or even direct tool usage tutorials.

Pros

  • Well-structured for its target audience (educators).
  • Introduces a formal framework (ISTE+ASCD) for thinking about AI in schools.
  • Quick to complete.

Cons

  • Extremely light on technical or practical details.
  • Reads like an internal corporate presentation on education strategy.
  • Zero hands-on application; it's all about what one *could* do.
  • Heavy on Microsoft product mentions.

The ISTE+ASCD AI Literacy Framework diagram looked promising, so I gave this path a try, expecting some technical meat. Instead I got more flowcharts. Lots of them. From Microsoft Education, from ISTE, from ASCD. The whole thing felt like reading a PowerPoint deck for a school board meeting I'd accidentally walked into.

There's no code. There isn't even a real lab. It's all 'reflective practice' and 'equipping educators'. I get it, the target audience isn't me. But even for them, it's just a series of multiple-choice questions confirming you read the slides about Copilot. You don't build anything. You don't even really use anything. You just read about frameworks for using things. It’s a high-level strategy doc, plain and simple.
