Reviewer's verdict

This isn't a course for learning AI. It's a one-hour advertisement to qualify for a Microsoft marketing program. If you need the badge for school, click through it. If you want to learn anything, go anywhere else.

Who it's for

K-12 educators already committed to the Microsoft ecosystem and looking for a program entry badge.

Who should skip it

Anyone seeking practical AI skills, technical knowledge, or a general understanding of AI outside of Microsoft products.

Pros

  • Quick to complete.
  • Provides entry into Microsoft's 'Elevate Educator Explorer' program.
  • Content is up-to-date with Microsoft's current product offerings (Copilot, M365).

Cons

  • Extremely light on content; more of a product brochure than a course.
  • No hands-on practice or technical substance.
  • The 'intermediate' label is misleading; it's non-technical and introductory.
  • Heavy on marketing language and abstract 'responsible AI' principles without concrete application.

This 'course' is a badge. That’s it. You click through a series of pages that feel like PowerPoint slides converted to a webpage, answer some multiple-choice questions where the correct answer is always the most optimistic Microsoft-endorsed option, and at the end, you get a credential that qualifies you for their 'Explorer' program. The entire experience took less than an hour, and most of that was reading the same marketing phrases over and over.

The content is just a high-level pitch for using Microsoft 365 and Copilot in the classroom. There's no 'how,' only 'what if.' You're told to build a 'reflective AI practice' but given no tools, frameworks, or even challenging questions to reflect upon. It’s all abstract principles and promises of efficiency. I was hoping for maybe a tiny sandbox, a sample prompt library for educators, or even a detailed case study with real inputs and outputs. Nothing. There is zero technical substance here. Calling this an 'intermediate' path is honestly bizarre; it's a non-technical brochure.

I get that it's an entry point to a specific program for a specific audience (K-12 educators). But even for them, this feels disrespectful of their time. It’s an advertisement disguised as training. If your school requires this specific badge, fine, knock it out during a coffee break. If you actually want to understand how to use AI in education, you will learn more from a 15-minute YouTube video.
