Who it's for

Absolute beginners wanting a quick, guided tour of Copilot's basic completions.

Who should skip it

Developers already using Copilot or any other AI code assistant.

Pros

  • Quick setup with a pre-configured codespace.
  • Shows basic comment-to-code and function completion.
  • Zero cost to run through the module itself.

Cons

  • Too basic; doesn't go beyond marketing demos.
  • The 'web API' is just a single Flask endpoint.
  • Doesn't cover any tricky or realistic use cases.

The codespace environment spun up fast, which was a nice touch. No local setup mess. The main 'exercise' is having Copilot write a single Flask route. You type a comment, it spits out the code. That’s it. It feels less like a tutorial and more like a live-action version of the GIF on their marketing page.

It works, sure. It shows you the absolute basics of tab-completion. But there’s no friction. No debugging, no wrestling with a bad suggestion, no situation where you'd actually have to think. The whole thing took less time than my morning coffee run. I get it's an intro, but it doesn't show you how to *use* the tool when things aren't a perfect, one-shot prompt. It just shows you that the button works.
