Reviewer's verdict

It's an admin's deployment guide disguised as a learning module. Useful only if you're a paid consultant or employee tasked with this exact setup.

Who it's for

Functional consultants or business users inside a company already paying for Dynamics 365 and Copilot licenses who need to check the setup steps.

Who should skip it

Students, self-learners, or anyone without an active, licensed Dynamics 365 Sales environment.

Pros

  • Up-to-date with current product names and architecture diagrams.
  • A quick, logical overview of the deployment sequence from install to customization.
  • Clear explanation of how Sales Copilot interacts with Outlook and Teams.

Cons

  • Zero hands-on practice; it's a documentation walk-through, not a lab.
  • Requires a fully licensed Dynamics 365 Sales environment to follow along, which is inaccessible to most individual learners.
  • The content is a checklist for admins, not a conceptual or skills-building tutorial.

This was like reading the instruction manual for a car I'll never be able to afford. The diagrams showing the architecture are clean, and the text walks you through installing the Sales Copilot app in Teams, connecting it to a Dynamics 365 Sales environment, and customizing what data appears. It explains the difference between standard and premium connections. All very logical.

The problem is, you can't *do* any of it. There's no sandbox, no dev tenant, no trial environment provided. To actually perform the steps, you need an active, licensed Dynamics 365 Sales setup. So I just read. I read about enabling the Viva Sales app. I read about setting up opportunity summaries. I read about how to extend the forms. After an hour, I’d completed the units and passed the knowledge check by basically memorizing text from the previous pages. I can tell you the steps, but I haven't acquired any actual skill. It feels hollow, like learning the theory of swimming without ever touching water.

It’s frustrating because this is an 'Intermediate' module. But the only real prerequisite is access to thousands of dollars in enterprise software licenses. For an individual learner, this isn't a course, it's a product brochure.
