Who it's for

Absolute beginners who have never seen a Copilot demo and want a quick product tour.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for hands-on practice, technical details, or prompt engineering skills.

Pros

  • Quick, text-based overview of Copilot features.
  • Shows examples in Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Doesn't require an active Microsoft 365 subscription to read.

Cons

  • No actual hands-on exercises; it's a read-only product tour.
  • Knowledge check is a simple multiple-choice quiz on the text.
  • Content is very high-level and feels like marketing material.

The screenshot for 'Analyze Data With Excel' shows a prompt asking Copilot to 'Analyze the Q3 sales data and summarize 3 key trends.' But there's no data, no prompt to try, no environment. It’s just a picture of a feature, like reading the back of a box. The whole module is like this. It walks you through what Copilot *can* do in Word, Teams, and Outlook, but never lets you actually do it. The final knowledge check just asks if you remember the marketing points from the text you just scrolled past.

I get that they can't give everyone a sandbox. But calling this a 'module' is a stretch. It's a nicely formatted webpage that took maybe 15 minutes to read. It's a fast way to get the official talking points and see the UI, but that's it. I didn't learn a skill; I just saw an ad. It does save me from having to watch a 20-minute marketing video on YouTube, I guess.
