A quick, pre-packaged product demo for an existing Copilot subscriber. It won't teach you SQL or convince you to buy Copilot, but it's a decent 20-minute sandbox if you want to see the SQL workflow.

Who it's for
Developers who already pay for Copilot and want to see the SQL prompt-to-code flow in a controlled environment.
Who should skip it
Anyone looking to learn SQL, or developers trying to decide if Copilot is worth the subscription.
Pros
Quick, hands-on exercise in a pre-configured Codespaces environment.
Shows a specific, non-trivial use case for Copilot (refactoring SQL queries).
No setup required on your local machine.
Cons
The 'challenge' is minimal; the solution is provided, and the steps are prescriptive.
Doesn't actually teach SQL or advanced prompting techniques.
Acts more like a product demo than a skill-building exercise.
Requires an active GitHub Copilot subscription to complete.
The Codespaces environment spun up, and that was probably the most impressive part of this whole thing. The 'challenge' is basically a paint-by-numbers exercise. You get a Python file with some ugly, hardcoded SQL. You highlight the mess, hit Ctrl+I, and type a prompt that's almost identical to the one they give you in the instructions. Copilot spits out the refactored code. You copy-paste it. Done.
Don't get me wrong, the tool itself is useful. I use it. The problem is this module isn't teaching a skill; it's demoing a feature. There's no exploration of why one prompt works better than another. There's no troubleshooting when Copilot gives you garbage, which it absolutely does in the real world. The 'complex SQL' is just a standard query with a couple of joins. Calling this a 'challenge' is a real stretch. It's a guided tour.
I finished it in about 15 minutes, and half of that was waiting for the environment to build. The knowledge check at the end is trivial. Honestly, if you've used Copilot for more than a week, you've probably already figured this workflow out on your own. It's an okay sandbox if you're brand new to the SQL part of Copilot and want a safe place to try it, but it offers zero resistance and builds zero muscle. You're just following a recipe.
