Who it's for

Absolute beginners needing a quick tour of the Copilot UI in Power Automate.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking to build a real flow or learn automation principles.

Pros

  • Quick to complete.
  • Shows what the UI looks like.
  • Up-to-date screenshots.

Cons

  • The 'exercise' is just reading instructions.
  • Doesn't teach you how to think about automation.
  • Very superficial; more of a product manual.
  • Requires a specific environment/license to actually try it.

To follow along with the exercise for real, I would've needed an environment with a Dataverse database, which I don't have set up for a quick 45-minute module. So I just clicked through. You read instructions, look at pictures, and that's it. You don't build anything.

The content itself is a basic feature list. It shows how to describe what you want in plain English and have Copilot generate the steps. It also covers asking questions about your flow. That's fine, but it never gets into why you'd choose one connector over another, or how to handle common errors. I guess it's just a demo. The quiz at the end was trivially easy, just asking if I remembered the names of buttons from the previous page. I can see what the tool does now, but I still don't feel like I know how to actually use it.
