A quick, superficial tour of the Copilot Studio UI. Useful only if you've never opened the tool before and have 30 minutes to kill.

Who it's for

Absolute beginners who want a quick, hands-on tour of the Microsoft unified authoring interface.

Who should skip it

Anyone looking for theory, best practices, or how to build a non-trivial conversational agent.

Pros

  • Short and can be completed in a single session.
  • Hands-on exercises match the instructions exactly.
  • Up-to-date with the current Copilot Studio interface.

Cons

  • Extremely basic, covers only UI navigation.
  • Doesn't explain the 'why' behind any of the steps.
  • Not a real project, just following a click-by-click tutorial.

The setup instructions worked, which is more than I can say for some of these modules. But the whole thing felt like a product tour where you just copy-paste from one window to another. The 'Variables' unit has you create a variable, and the next unit checks if it exists. That’s… not really teaching anything. You follow a list of instructions, click the buttons, and at the end you have a bot that can ask and answer one question. There’s no explanation of why you’d use an entity versus a variable, or any design principles. It’s like a recipe that just says 'add one cup of flour' without telling you what you’re baking. At least it didn't take long to figure that out.
