Who it's for
Architects already committed to the Power Platform ecosystem needing a high-level map.
Who should skip it
Developers looking for code, API examples, or integration patterns.
Pros
Quick overview of the major architectural components.
Clear visual diagrams for environments and data strategy.
Acts as a good table of contents for deeper dives.
Cons
Zero hands-on interaction; it's a glorified slide deck.
Too high-level; lacks concrete implementation details.
Feels like a marketing document for the Power Platform stack.
They call this an 'architecture' module, but it feels more like reading the back of the box. I was hoping to find the seams—where does Power Platform end and my own code begin? Where are the API gateways, the rate limits I'll actually hit, the integration patterns for connecting to a non-Azure database without a premium connector that costs a fortune? I found none of that.
Instead, I got a series of high-level diagrams and concepts like 'environments' and 'data location.' The content isn't wrong, it's just inert. It's the kind of PowerPoint deck a consultant shows you before they start the real work. The section on API limits and throughput was a perfect example: it tells you there *are* limits, lists their names, and then points you to another doc. Thanks, I could have googled that myself.
There's no lab. No code. Not even a hypothetical scenario with enough detail to be useful. It’s just reading. I can't fault the accuracy, but it has no teeth. It’s a conceptual tour for someone who has already decided to use the platform and needs to learn the official marketing terminology for the pieces they're about to buy. If you're a developer trying to figure out if you can build a serious application on this, it's mostly a waste of an hour.
