A solid 40-minute product tour of the AI Builder business card reader. It shows you what the tool does, but doesn't teach you how to build anything fundamentally new.

Who it's for
Power Platform users who need a quick demo of a pre-built AI component.
Who should skip it
Developers looking to train their own OCR models or understand the underlying tech.
Pros
Quick introduction to a specific AI Builder feature.
Clear, step-by-step instructions for building a simple canvas app.
No coding required to get a result.
Cons
Doesn't go beyond a very narrow, pre-built use case.
The 'AI' is a black box; you just connect it.
Feels more like a product tutorial than a skill-building course.
The business card reader component worked on the first try, which was satisfying. It pulled the name, email, and phone number from the sample image just like the instructions said. But then… that was it. The entire module is about plumbing this one pre-built component into a Power App. There's no training, no customization, no explanation of how the OCR actually works. It's a black box you're told to connect from A to B.
I guess it proves the AI Builder can do this specific task, but I didn't feel like I learned an AI *skill*. It felt more like learning where a specific button is in a new app. I spent more time trying to figure out the Power Apps UI than thinking about the model. It's a good demo, but don't expect to walk away understanding how to build your own information extraction tools.
