Reviewer's verdict

A quick, hands-on tour of one specific AI Builder feature. It does the job of showing you the tool but won't teach you any transferable skills.

Who it's for

Absolute beginners wanting a quick intro to one Power Platform tool.

Who should skip it

Developers or anyone needing to understand the underlying models.

Pros

  • Very fast, can be completed in a lunch break.
  • Clear, step-by-step instructions for a single task.
  • Introduces the AI Builder UI without needing a separate trial.

Cons

  • Requires uploading a zip of 15+ images for each object class, which is a lot for a 25-minute module.
  • Doesn't explain what's happening under the hood at all.
  • Feels more like a product tour than a learning module.

The image-gathering step almost stopped me. For a 25-minute module, asking for 15+ images per object class is a lot of prep work. I just grabbed a bunch of screenshots of my stapler from different angles. It worked, surprisingly. The rest is a click-through tutorial of the AI Builder interface: upload, tag, wait for it to train, and then test it in a pre-built Power App. It does what it says. You see an object detection model being made. But it feels like a total black box. You don't learn why certain images work better, what model is being used, or how to tune anything. It’s a useful demo if you've never touched the Power Platform, but that's about it. At least it was quick.
