Who it's for
Absolute beginners looking for a quick, high-level tour of one Power Platform AI feature.
Who should skip it
Anyone trying to build a real project or understand how entity extraction works under the hood.
Pros
Extremely short, can be completed in one sitting.
Introduces the basic concept of what entity extraction is for.
Connects the feature to the Power Apps ecosystem.
Cons
No hands-on exercise, just a multiple-choice quiz.
Feels more like a product page than a training module.
Doesn't teach you how to actually build or train a model.
The 'Check your knowledge' quiz at the end pretty much tells the whole story. It's three multiple-choice questions you can pass just by reading the previous two pages. There's no lab, no environment to set up, no sample data. The unit called 'Exercise' is just a video of someone else doing the work. You don't build anything. You don't train anything. You watch a demo, read some marketing copy, and click through a quiz that feels like it’s checking if you were awake.
I get that it's a 'Get Started' module, but this is barely a start. It's more of a product tour. They show a business problem—extracting info from customer feedback emails—and then jump straight to a screenshot of the finished solution in Power Automate. The entire middle part, the 'how,' is missing. How do you define the entities? What if the pre-trained models don't fit my use case? What are the limits? None of that is here.
Compared to even the most basic tutorials on YouTube for libraries like spaCy or NLTK, this feels hollow. It’s frustrating because I came here to learn how to *use* the AI Builder, not just to be told that it exists. This module doesn't give you any agency. It's a passive experience. I'd have learned more from a 5-minute product demo video, because at least that wouldn't pretend to be an educational exercise.
