Reviewer's verdict

This is a firehose of Microsoft security tools. It's the right choice if your job is to be the 'Azure security guy' and your employer is paying. Otherwise, it's too much.

Who it's for

Existing security engineers or Azure admins preparing for the SC-100 expert exam.

Who should skip it

Beginners, developers without a security background, or anyone looking for a quick overview.

Pros

  • Comprehensive coverage of Microsoft's security stack (Entra, Defender, Sentinel).
  • Hands-on labs are practical and align with real-world configuration tasks.
  • The new AI security modules are timely and directly applicable.

Cons

  • Extremely long and expensive for an individual.
  • Requires significant prior knowledge of Azure administration.
  • Some modules feel like a fast-paced product tour.

Work sent me to this. It’s a 12-day marathon of clicking through the Azure portal. The instructor was good, but you’re mostly just trying to keep up with a blur of Defender, Entra, and Sentinel screens. The focus is less on deep security principles and more on ‘where is the button for this policy in this specific Microsoft product’.

The AI security part was new and actually useful. We spent about half a day on locking down access to Azure OpenAI and monitoring prompts with Defender for Cloud. The rest of it felt like a direct mapping to the SC-100 exam objectives.

It does the job—you'll touch every relevant service. But if the company wasn’t paying, I wouldn't have signed up. It’s a massive time and cash commitment for what is essentially a guided tour of Microsoft’s security documentation.
