Reviewer's verdict

This isn't a coding course. It's a compliance and management briefing stretched over three days. For individual devs, the free MS Learn paths are far more efficient.

Who it's for

Teams needing a structured, non-technical overview for compliance or management purposes.

Who should skip it

Developers who already use Copilot and want to build things.

Pros

  • Covers the 'why' behind Copilot, including security and ethics.
  • Official Microsoft curriculum, good for corporate checklists.
  • Good for managers who need to approve its use.

Cons

  • Very little hands-on coding for a 3-day course.
  • Feels like a long PowerPoint presentation, not a dev workshop.
  • Most content can be self-learned through free modules on MS Learn in a fraction of the time.

Day two, and we spent two hours on the ethics module. It felt like corporate compliance training masquerading as a technical course. I had my IDE open, ready to work on a real problem, but we were just watching slides. The instructor was fine, just stuck with the script. The script is the problem.

This is a 24-hour course about a tool that saves you time. The irony. For what this course costs, I could get a Pro subscription for years. If your company is making you take it for policy reasons, sure. But if you’re a dev trying to get better at your job, you're in the wrong room. Go do the short modules on the Learn site instead. They cover the same prompts without the three-day meeting.
